This is what we support: Ambahan poetry from the Philippines

Right now I ought to be spending every waking moment promoting our Kickstarter campaign , just as you should be spending every moment backing it, but I can’t help taking time out to promote one of the most remarkable books of poetry I’ve ever seen: Bamboo Whispers, an anthology of Mangyan poetry from the island of Mindoro in the Philippines.
The Mangyans practice a particular poetic form, the ambahan, in their traditional (endangered) script. Some poems are almost like haiku, others capture profound and moving moments in everyday living. I’m attaching a sample. Zoom in close.
The book is the work of the excellent Mangyan Heritage Center (mangyan.org) and can be ordered from them. Please share, repost and in general let everyone know about this threatened but utterly vital tradition.
