Nothing but thanks
Here’s the news several of you have already asked about: I think we met our Red List launch goal.
Or rather you met our goal. (All I did was send out the annoying emails.) I can’t be entirely sure, as some of you chose to send checks rather than go through electronic transfers, and they haven’t arrived yet, but I am quietly confident.
And once again, I am left speechless by your support. All of you were generous. Some gave money that, I know, they can barely afford. Some gave more than once. As I’ve said many times, virtually all our income is derived from personal donations, so you literally keep us going.
Speaking of which…
Work on the Red List project has begun today, as promised; we’re already reaching out to groups in Nepal, India and Bangladesh to create a pilot project that we can scale up for the rest of the world.
But all that is for another day. (Monday, actually.) For now, focus falls on everyone who made this campaign a success, and thus has enabled our work to continue. All their names will soon go into the Red List section of our website. That’s how important y’all are.
